IF I WERE YOU

Life advice, left by strangers.

About

If I Were You is an anonymous exchange of life lessons. Strangers leave the thing they learned the hard way — the advice they wish someone had given them before it cost them something — and other strangers find it later, whenever they need to hear it.

There are no profiles, no followers, and no comments. A note goes up on the wall the moment it's sealed, and it stays there. You can read one note a day, scroll the wall, or leave one yourself. That's the whole thing. The point is that hard-won lessons shouldn't have to be learned alone, again and again, by each new person who runs into them.

It's for anyone who has ever wished they'd known then what they know now — the eighteen-year-old about to sign the lease, the new parent, the founder, the friend who keeps dating the same person in a different jacket. If you've paid for a lesson in time, money, or heartbreak, this is a place to pass the receipt on.

The project is built and run by a small team who believe that the best advice often comes from someone you'll never meet, who has no reason to tell you anything but the truth. We moderate every note before it goes live, keep no identifying details, and never sell or share any data. The wall stays anonymous on purpose — so that what reaches you is only the lesson, not the person who left it.
